Tribute to Michael Jackson

Like so many others, I too grieve for the passing of Michael Jackson and recall his wonderful performance in The Wiz. In looking over the many vidoes on YouTube, I ran across a short piece in which Michael utters one of my favorite sayings, although he does so in English, whereas I prefer it in latin. See if you can pick it out.

Normally, I would embed the video but YouTube has disabled that feature in light of the overwhelming demand.

I found his classic song from The Wiz, "Ease on Down the Road" at another site. His talents really shine in this clip.

And now, Michael Jackson joins those who have crossed the Shifting Sands and awaits our eventual arrival.

Oz in the 21st Century: A Conference in the heat...

I find myself attending an Oz conference in Arkansas where both the heat and humidity are most impressive. It reminds of The Great Sandy Waste just south of the Great Red Brick Palace of Glinda the Good, Ruler of the Quadling Country.

In case you're interested, the web address is:

So, far, the lectures have been interesting and quite diverse. On Saturday comes my turn in front of the crowds as I speak of Princess Ozma's Royal Command and my efforts to fulfill her wishes.

Sadly, Roger S. Baum and his lovely wife, who were scheduled to attend will not due to health issues with Mr. Baum. We pray for his quick recovery and look forward to seeing him in the near future.

Long Live Oz!!!!

18.5 miles/sec (30 km/sec) and counting!

Magician of Oz was thinking today about time, space and Newton's Laws.

It seems the Earth revolves around the Sun at a speed of about 18.5 miles/sec (30 km/sec). There are, at this writing, approxiamately 286,200 seconds left 'till the Summer Solstice and the official release of MAGICIAN OF OZ.
During those 286,200 seconds, the Earth will have travelled five million, two hundred and ninety four thousand, seven hundred miles.

Kinda wierd when you write like that, ain't it?

Magician of Oz will be glad when only 1 mile is left to go!

My father would have been so proud.

Countdown to Summer Solstice

It's now been nearly a week since I left 'Da Big Apple and Book Expo America 2009 to promote MAGICIAN OF OZ.

So many memories and great experiences, and three full cameras still left to get developed. One of my oddest memories is a trashcan full of frogs.

I know it sounds odd, but we don't have a China Town in Terre Haute and a plastic trashcan full of live frogs is something you don't see everyday.

The subway was also an amazing experience. For a hundered year old system, it works remarkably well. Young Jamie Diggs, the new Royal Magician of Oz would be quite impressed, although I've heard a rumor that Oz has something that kinda' resembles the underground can in a tube.

One of the nicer sights I saw in New York City was a small public outdoor children's library located behind the New York Public Library.

Another fine sight, although it was borne out of tragedy was Strawberry Fields and the Imagine tribute to John Lennon. It brought out sad feelings and memories of my youth when The Beatles were the only music our house heard in the 60's.

Overall, the big trip to 'da Big Apple was awesome and I am glad for having gone. In case you're wondering why there is a countdown to the Summer Solstice on June 21, it's because the Summer Solstice is the official release date for the newest tale of wonder and fantasy in the land of Oz, MAGICIAN OF OZ by James C. Wallace II (that's me).

Look for it in a bookstore near you in merely days, or if you just can't wait, try this link at Lulu.com:
