The End is Near!!!

That sounds like an apocalytpic prediction but in reality, it's a bit of good news.

Shadow Demon of Oz was to have been released on the Vernal Equinox last week but apparently, I'm an old man who is not up to date on the latest software.

I had been using Adobe Pagemaker to format my books. Well, it turns out that Adobe no longer produces Pagemaker or supports it with tech support. It now seems that Adobe InDesign is the current software used for book publishing.

I have no idea why Adobe feels it necessary to change things that work well and throw new stuff into the mix other than they feel the need to make more money with new software.

So be it...

Fortunately, I have found a solution to this issue that solves the problem and costs me nothing! Ha ha Adobe...! Take that!!!

On Monday, the final PDF version of Shadow Demon goes to print and I can focus on book three, Family of Oz, as well as a number of book signings and appearances now scheduled throughout the mid-west.

I wish I had Princess Ozma's Magic Belt and just wish away my problems. Oh well, all good things come to those who are patient and persistent.

Back Cover Art for Shadow Demon of Oz

Among the many other things going on right now, the back cover art from Dennis Anfuso arrived yesterday and as usual, I could not be more pleased.

His initial design was very nearly identical to the one above. I only suggested one thing and he managed to nail it! If only I had talent like that. Oh well, I'll stick with writing and leave the art to the artists.

It kinda reminds me of a photo I took of Comet Hyakutake back in '96 while in Romania attending a conference.

By weeks end, the publisher should have all the elements together and then.... the proof copy to verify I haven't totally screwed things up!

Her Majesty, Princess Ozma will be pleased!
