It has been many years since the old witches and magicians of Oz were stripped of their powers, leaving only Princess Ozma, Glinda; Good Witch of the South, O.Z. Diggs, the first and only Wizard of Oz and even Dorothy Gale of Kansas as the only citizens of Oz permitted to perform magic within the boundaries of the Land of Oz.
In the years since, the powerful allure of magic has remained ever-present in the minds of Dr. Pipt, the once-Crooked Magician of Munchkin Country, 'Ol Mombi, a former wicked witch of the northern Gillikin Country, and Blinkie, once the leader of all the witches of Jinxland in the south-eastern region of the Quadling Country of Oz.
Now, Dorothy has called upon Ugu the Shoemaker, once a powerful magician himself and now merely a common gray dove, to return to his old life as a cobbler and make the most beautiful pair of Emerald Slippers possible for Princess Ozma's upcoming birthday.
Meanwhile, Dr. Pipt, 'Ol Mombi and Blinkie each embark on their own journey to rediscover their magical powers and seek their revenge against those who stripped them of their powers.
Soon, all three come together in search of the Emerald Slippers created by Ugu the Shoemaker, who now finds himself equally consumed by the allure of regaining his magical powers.
This endearing tale of friendship, magic and adventure in the Land of Oz brings back old memories and old friends from the early years in Oz and introduces us to Pacifico, the barefoot apprentice of Ugu the Shoemaker as he seeks to help his mentor, Ugu fight against the desire for magic and save the Emerald Slippers from the clutches of the band of witches and magicians bent on using them for their own Evil purposes.
The Emerald Slippers of Oz is the newest tale of Oz by the Royal Liaison of Oz; James C. Wallace II, now joined by Amanda Wallace as co-author.
