This is, of course, not Disney's first try at bringing the world of Oz out into the Great Outside, which is what everyone in Oz calls this world of ours.
At the time, which was 1985, everyone freaked out about Return to Oz and said it was too dark and not as kid friendly as Disney is usually known for. I, for one, loved the movie, which was much more faithful to the original books of Oz by L. Frank Baum than the 1939 MGM The Wizard of Oz film.
Even the Muppets had a go at Oz and I really loved this version!!!
Now, if after seeing the new Disney movie about how the Wizard came to Oz, you may wanna read my books about what happens when the Wizard decides to retire and his great grandson; Jamie Diggs is called by Princess Ozma to take his place as Her new Royal Magician of Oz.
Here are the links to those books should you be interested:
These are available on Amazon as paperback and in the Kindle format. My 4th book is a spin-off of Family of Oz and tells the tale of Nicholas Pickleless and Aadon Blu, both of whom appeared in Family of Oz. It is called The Ozian Adventure of Pickleless & Blu and is also on Amazon.
The Emerald Slippers of Oz and we are very pleased with the story it tells. Here is a preview of the new cover, which was done by Gwen Tennille, a very talented artist and good friend.
It is the story of two former witches and two former wizards, all of whom long to regain their old magical powers, and their travels through Oz in search of the means to regain their former magical glory.
As for now, it's 8 days and counting...

Royal Liaison of Oz
I know isn't it exciting......got my tickets already and I'm ready. I keep trying to tell myself that I mustn't put all my eggs in this new fangled basket of a movie, but I am in hopes that we will all be pleased. I'm glad that you are continuing to entertain your readers with you "insights" into the magic land....
ReplyDeleteAnd only 7 days after the movie premiere...we're off to Celebrate Oz again, see you there. Oma Linda
